Enrico M. Bucci is an Italian scientist known for his work in biomedical scientific integrity. Since May 2017, he has served as an advisor to the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in a project to develop a screening pipeline to foster the integrity and correctness of all research published by the CNR’s researchers. He is or has been in charge of checking the integrity of manuscripts to be published by several biomedical journals (FEBS, NPG group, Elsevier and others) and by several research institutions (IMT, IFOM, Regina Elena in Italy; FLI-Leibniz in Germany; SHRO in the US). His work on detecting scientific fraud using new, ad-hoc software tools was covered by several national and international magazines, including Nature (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019), and has been broadcast by the Italian State TV (RAI) among others. In recognition of his work in the field of Research Integrity and Scientific Ethics, in 2017 he was presented with the Giovan Giacomo Giordano/Niaf Lifetime Achievement Award for Ethics and Creativity in Medical Research.
